Description

Makeup in 5 Minutes started with a problem many people experience: creating polished makeup can take too long, especially when getting ready in a rush.

I designed a facial mask with openings that guide users through the placement of contour and highlight. Instead of needing advanced makeup skills, users can follow the mask and the illustrated instructions to complete each step more quickly and consistently.

I developed the idea as a complete product, including the mask, packaging and a foldout instruction brochure. The project brought together interaction design, illustration and packaging to turn a complicated makeup routine into a simple five minute process.

How it works

The concept uses marked openings to guide contour and highlight placement, followed by a foldout blending guide.

Designing the guidance

The instructions repeat the same shapes used on the mask, making it easier to connect each opening to the next step.

Packaging the experience

The mask and instructions come together in one compact package, designed to feel like a beauty product rather than a complicated tool.

Final prototype

The final set included the mask, packaging and foldout instruction guide.

What I’d Explore Next

The concept was designed around one face shape. A next step would be testing different sizes and facial proportions to make the guidance more adaptable.
